The Notorious B.I.G. Estate Suing Persistent R&B Royalty Seeker

The late, great Notorious B.I.G.’s groundbreaking debut Ready to Die is nearing its 20th anniversary but one particular artist is still seeking to purge his estate for royalties on the only record with a guest appearance.

Leroy Huston, former lead singer of acclaimed 70s R&B group The Impressions is saying “The What” featuring Method Man has been thriving in Hip-Hop head’s earphones for years with an uncleared sample.

The 1974 hit “Can’t Say Enough About Mom” isn’t credited in the creation of the Biggie track, which Huston says was done illegally and has even been campaigning against the slain rapper’s estate. He filed suit against the estate in April of this year.

According to documents obtained by The Jasmine Brand, Biggie’s mother Violetta Wallace, ex-wife Faith Evans and their legal counsel have had enough and they’re suing Huston for a court order that specifically states no copyright infringement has taken place.

Their rep also says the two portion used by producer Easy Mo Bee were done fairly and the ongoing campaign holds no merit.

Lion Dream Records

is an independent label created by an artist to better produce and promote other artists. With the lack of publishers to help talented local artists to broadcast their music, it was important that some one take the first step and lead the way to a new generartion of self made artists.
