Uganda's President Museveni Signs Anti-Gay Bill

ENTEBBE, UGANDA
President Yoweri Museveni signed the bill at his official residence in an event witnessed by government officials, journalists and a team of Ugandan scientists whose report —which found that there is no proven genetic basis for homosexuality — cited by Museveni as his reason for backing the bill.

“We Africans never seek to impose our view on others.

If only they could let us alone,” he said, talking of Western pressure not to sign the bill.
“We have been disappointed for a long time by the conduct of the West. There is now an attempt at social imperialism.” Without naming them, Museveni accused “arrogant and careless Western groups” of trying to recruit Ugandan children into homosexuality, prompting local pressure for the law.

The original bill called for the death penalty for certain homosexual acts. What it still included is a 14 year prison sentence and even a life sentence for particular situations (i.e. repeat offenders or knowingly being HIV positive and engaging in sex). Needless to say, this isn't going over so well with other countries in the world.

Some European countries such as Sweden have threatened to cut aid to Uganda if the measure was enacted and U.S.

President Barack Obama warned that signing the bill would “complicate” this East African country's relationship with Washington.
“By signing this bill, Museveni has not only let down gay Ugandans; he has also failed the very constituencies he claims to be protecting, including children,” said Maria Burnett, a Uganda researcher for Human Rights Watch.

“Laws to protect children from abuse by perpetrators of either the same or the opposite sex are on the books, but are poorly enforced in Uganda; policing consensual same-sex activity between adults and criminalizing talking about sexual rights will only distract from important police work and take away resources from the hard work of protecting children from abuse.

” Uganda's stance on homosexuality, it is illegal in the country isn't an anomaly in African.
Last month, Nigeria passed an anti-gay bill.

T-Pain Says Urban Music Is Homophobic

Homophobia in hip-hop has been a hot topic for a while now.

T-Pain is the latest urban artist to speak out on the topic, recently doing so in a sit-down interview with VladTV.

Though a number of rappers have come forward with preaching acceptance, Pain says homophobia in urban music circles is still a big deal.

“You ever notice how homophobic niggas is all the time,” said T-Pain when questioned about the topic. “It’s like, dude if you ain’t gay, then gay things shouldn’t bother you, gay people shouldn’t bother you.

You ain’t going to get your ass pumped dude, ain’t nobody trying to look for you my nigga,” he added.

The Tallahassee entertainer went on to speak on the homophobic lingo that has become custom in some circles. “You can say gay things but not be seen as gay.
You don’t gotta say, ‘No homo.’ You ain’t gotta say, ‘I want a hot dog, no homo…’ Be comfortable with your manhood. We know you fuck bitches my nigga,” he said.Pain conceded that the radio is currently opening it’s doors to “gay friendly” music but said the entertainers themselves have a long way to come, citing Frank Ocean’s situation as an example.
“I think the radio is getting more gay-friendly,” he said. “I don’t think urban music is getting more gay-friendly because if that was the case, Frank Ocean would be on a lot more songs.

I know niggas that will not do a song with Frank Ocean just because he gay, but they need him on the fucking song and that’s so terrible to me man… What I do ain’t going to affect nothing that you got going on.”

DMX Boxing Match Against George Zimmerman Cancelled

DMX's boxing match with George Zimmerman has been cancelled, according to Twitter updates from the fight's promoter, Damon Feldman. However, the fight is still a possibility, according to DMX's representative, Damon Feldman and the cancellation Tweets have since been deleted.

In a statement released to the press, Nati addressed the boxing match.

"Damon Feldman has announced that the George Zimmerman fight is cancelled via his Twitter," Nati said in a statement. "As previously stated, DMX never agreed to the fight and we thank you for all of the support from DMX's fans. This situation will not affect any of DMX's upcoming concerts in America or around the world."

HipHopDX asked if Nati can confirm or deny that DMX won't be involved in a George Zimmerman boxing match in the future. He was asked if the boxing match is still a possibility. "I can't say that yet," Nati said exclusively to HipHopDX.
The boxing match between Zimmerman and DMX was confirmed and announced by Feldman February 4. However, DMX's representative Nati later said that DMX's fight against Zimmerman was not official. Nat said that negotiations were ongoing.

DMX has said that he hopes to fight Zimmerman in different interviews. The first time he was asked about it, he said the following. "I am going to beat the living fuck out him,” DMX said of Zimmerman. "I am breaking every rule in boxing to make sure I fuck him right up...Once I am done with him, I am going to whip my dick out and piss on him...right in his muthafckin' face...Zimmerman is a piece of shit and that’s what he needs to drink."

More recently, X has said that he is unsure if the fight is going to take place. “I was challenged,” DMX said. "I still haven’t decided if I was really going to do it. But if I did do it, whatever money that was supposed to go to him would have to go to charity...[I] will gladly be the [expletive] out of him.”

The boxing match was criticized by many, including Al Sharpton, who also opposed to what many have been calling a "celebrity boxing" event.

“Let’s be clear, Zimmerman’s only claim to fame was killing an unarmed, young man named Trayvon Martin,” Sharpton said. “But killing someone does not make you a celebrity. Or it shouldn’t. And this point is particularly important today because today is Trayvon Martin’s birthday. He would have turned 19-years-old today. I do not begrudge people that achieve celebrity status or high profile status that I disagree with…But when we start making celebrities, we started some way glorifying people whose only claim to fame is killing someone unarmed…Do we not have boundaries at who we raise in celebrity and glorification in society?”

A petition has also been started to cancel the boxing match. More than 72,000 people have signed the petition at press time. More on the petition can be viewed here.

In July 2013, George Zimmerman was found not guilty of second degree murder and manslaughter. He was accused of murdering Trayvon Martin in 2012. Martin was 17 years old.
